As Vice President of Asset Management, Sam works to drive investment value for the First Hospitality investor group as well as owners across the portfolio. His work includes maintaining investment theses, directing capital expenditures into assets to achieve highest and best use, and working with operating teams to maximize performance.
Sam has gathered broad experience across operations and development in his career at First Hospitality. Most recently, he served as the General Manager at the Hampton Inn Chicago McCormick Place as one of three GMs at Hilton’s first-ever tribrand. Before that, he was a Development Director, where he led elements of project execution of the $35 million renovation of the Renaissance Toledo Downtown and $38 million development of Hotel LeVeque, an Autograph Collection hotel. He holds two engineering degrees from Northwestern University and brings a designer’s mindset to the daily challenges of building and running hotels.
Outside of hospitality, Sam is passionate about promoting access to STEM education. He is a member of the A Better Chicago Impact Council, a non-profit working to bring a rigorous venture capital approach to accelerating education organizations in Chicago. He is also a member of the Technion Innovators Associate Board, known as the “MIT of Israel”, and is responsible for many technological breakthroughs with global impact. Sam lives in downtown Chicago with his wife, Rose, and their dog Ajax.
